Torpedo Data Computer (1938)

The TDC was the US Navy’s submarine fire control computer. This electromechanical analog computer continuously solved the “torpedo triangle”—computing the gyro angle needed for a torpedo to intercept a moving target. Mechanical resolvers and differential gears tracked relative motion in real time, automatically updating the firing solution as the tactical situation changed.
