Strasbourg Clock (1843)

The third astronomical clock in Strasbourg Cathedral, built by Jean-Baptiste Schwilgué. Its perpetual calendar computes Easter (the hardest calendrical calculation) for any year. It includes an orrery, celestial globe with 5,000 stars, eclipse predictor, and equation of time display. At noon, automata perform: a rooster crows three times, the twelve apostles parade before Christ, and Death strikes the hours.
