Chinese Suanpan (算盘)

The suanpan has been used since the 2nd century BCE. Each rod has 2 heaven beads (worth 5 each) above the beam and 5 earth beads (worth 1 each) below.

This 2/5 configuration allows representing values 0-15 per rod, enabling both decimal and hexadecimal arithmetic.
