Fermentation Biochemistry

All fermentation begins with glycolysis: glucose (C6H12O6) is split into 2 pyruvate + 2 ATP + 2 NADH. Without oxygen, pyruvate must be reduced to regenerate NAD+. Yeast makes ethanol + CO2. Bacteria make lactic acid. Watch metabolite particles flow through the pathway as glucose is consumed.
