Channel Capacity

C = 1.000 bits/use

Shannon-Hartley Theorem

C = B × log₂(1 + SNR)

Channel capacity is the maximum rate at which information can be reliably transmitted over a noisy channel.

Higher SNR or bandwidth increases capacity. Errors occur when transmission rate exceeds capacity.

Binary Symmetric Channel

C = 1 - H(p)

For a binary channel with error probability p, capacity depends on binary entropy H(p).
