🧬 Cytoplasmic Inheritance

Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is maternally inherited. Without recombination, deleterious mutations accumulate (Muller's ratchet). The mtDNA bottleneck during development helps purge mutations.

Mean Mutation Load: 0.00
Mean Fitness: 1.00
Mt Heteroplasmy: 0.00
Ratchet Clicks: 0
Muller's Ratchet: Without recombination, the least-loaded class can be lost by drift, causing irreversible accumulation of mutations. The bottleneck increases variance, enabling selection among cells.
