Drag the sector arms to change the opening angle

Galileo's Sector (1597)

The sector (or proportional compass) was a major calculating instrument from the late 16th to 19th century. Two graduated rulers pivot at one end. By measuring the opening with dividers, users could solve proportions, perform multiplication and division, compute square and cube roots, and find trigonometric values. Galileo improved the design and wrote an instruction manual in 1606.
