Brian's Brain
A three-state cellular automaton that creates beautiful, ever-moving patterns. Each cell can be Off (black),
On (white), or Dying (blue). Simple rules create complex behaviors: Off cells turn On if exactly 2 neighbors
are On, On cells always become Dying, and Dying cells always become Off. Click to toggle cells!
About Brian's Brain
- States: Three states create rich dynamics
Off (black): Inactive cell
On (white): Active cell
Dying (blue): Transitioning cell
- Rules:
- Off cell with exactly 2 On neighbors → On
- On cell → Dying (always)
- Dying cell → Off (always)
- Neighborhood: Moore neighborhood (8 surrounding cells)
- Properties: Creates perpetual motion, never stabilizes like Conway's Game of Life
- Patterns: Supports gliders, guns, and other interesting structures
- Interactive: Click to activate cells and watch them propagate
